PART 1: INFOGRAPHIC POSTER

15/01/19 - 02/02/19 (Week 2 - Week 4)

In this class, we were briefed on our first project which revolves around visually displaying information of a recipe of our choice. This project is split into two parts: a poster and an animation with sound.

As of now, we needed to start working on the poster. The A4 sized poster to be designed should include the ingredients, tools/utensils needed along with the steps. We should also use as little words as possible and express the content visually.

To start off, I created a mind-map to list down some recipes I had in mind.

After some brainstorming, I decided to go with a summer peach tart recipe I found on Pinterest.

From there, I started to write the recipe down on a paper and at the same time try to visualise how I want to illustrate it.

Then I started to sketch out the elements as well as some sketches on the layouts.

Once I roughly had an idea of what I want to do, I created a moodboard including the colour palette and selected typefaces.

Then, I started to illustrate the individual ingredients, and later on combined them for the instructions part.

With the completed elements, I started to combine them for the instructions part.

After that, I roughly tried different ways I could arrange everything to fit nicely for the poster.

Once I figured out which style I liked better, I created a new document and started to arrange everything properly.

PART 2: INFOGRAPHIC VIDEO

The next part of this project is to create an infographic video! To start off, I started to do some sketches which helped give me a better idea on how I would like to animate my recipe.

Fig2.1: Sketches

After the sketches, I went on to Illustrator and started to roughly arrange the elements with several artboards to see it all laid out. Then from there, I created my background and transfer the elements into a new ai file with everything organised in separate layers in just one artboard. That way, I can just import the illustrator file to After Effects and do my animation from there.

For the background, I decided to illustrate a gingham pattern and use it as the border.
